As God predestined and foreknew

As God predestined and foreknew,
His called ones He’ll conform unto
The image of His Son.

The Holy Spirit groans and prays
According to God and His ways.
We’re to the Son conformed.

The Spirit operates within,
And outwardly He disciplines,
And thus are we conformed.

The purpose of His work within,
Plus groanings, prayers, and discipline,
Is that we’d be conformed.

All things together work for good
To those who love God, that they could
To His Son be conformed.

For God to gain the many sons,
He to the image of His Son
Must surely us conform.

That we all glorified may be,
Unto His Son’s own image He
Must fully us conform.

Ne’er from the love of Christ can we
Ever now separated be—
To make us conformed sons.
