Because the very God
Who commanded light to shine,
Light to shine out of darkness,
Has shined in our hearts.

In the universe His shining
Produced the old creation,
His new creation’s made by
Shining in our hearts.

God’s shining results in
The illumination,
Knowing God’s glory
In the face of Christ.

This enlightenment that
Does make known the glory
Issues from the shining
Of God in our hearts.
